Will there be any changes to parking restrictions?

If the proposed one-way flow is adopted, it will allow some changes to existing parking restrictions. It will allow additional on street parking spaces – likely around an additional 8 car spaces.

Why was a clockwise direction chosen for the proposed one-way traffic flow?

The northern end of Pinnacle Street is quite close to Kingsway. This limits the ability to safely turn right out of Pinnacle Street during peak periods due to heavy traffic towards Sylvania Road.

Why is it proposed to keep the north-western section of Pinnacle Street as two-way traffic?

Transport for NSW often use the property at 29-31 Pinnacle Street as a construction compound.  Leaving this small section open to two way traffic will allow vehicles and trucks to enter and exit this property (when in use) via Pinnacle Street North rather than having use the full street.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a one-way traffic arrangement?

    Advantages

    • Eliminates reversing movements at two-way pinch points
    • Allows additional on street parking (8 additional spaces)

    Disadvantages

    • Additional travel time/distance for most residents.
    • Higher likelihood of delays turning into and out of Pinnacle Street.
    • Potential non-compliance with one-way restrictions and increased vehicle speeds in Pinnacle Street
    • Some properties may need to place their waste bins on the opposite side of the street.
