What is a masterplan?

    A masterplan is a planning document that helps us establish the future vision for the reserve. It assists us to prioritise and coordinate future work and forecast budget allocations. This ensures the reserve meets the needs of our community.

    When will work start at Kareela Reserve?

    The masterplan will follow a staged implementation to correspond with construction phasing and available funding. 

    • Short-term (1-5 years) are focused on the former depot site and include the new carpark, the multi-sport court, outdoor fitness area and associated pedestrian paths, stairs and ramps
    • Medium-term (6-10 years) are focused on Kareela Oval and include the removal of the amenities building, new and upgraded multi-purpose buildings, Princes Highway carpark improvements, off-road cycleway, enlarged cricket outfield, spectator seating and associated pedestrian path connections
    • Long-term (10+ years) are focused on Harrie Dening Soccer Centre and will include the removal of existing building, regrading and reconfiguration of the sports fields, construction of the new multi-purpose building with tiered seating and associated vehicular and pedestrian path connections.
